Toy Box
A beautiful box made of many box joints.
Apparently little boys get many toys. As with many of my projects, I was inspired by necessity and built a box to hold them. Some secondary inspiration came from a similar blanket chest found in this book by Christopher Schwarz. For the 3/4" box joints, I made another jig for my table saw using a dado set. It is made completely from pine from my grandpa's land. The top and bottom use shiplapped boards to accomodate seasonal movement in the wide boards. The gaps cut around the bottom edge of the lid allow a space for fingers to not be accidentally slammed when the lid closes.
No hardware was used in the making of this box except for the hinges connecting the main body to the lid.
